CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Excess volatility increases risk further. Be cautious. Past performance is not an indication of future results.

Stage, not checklist

An account opens in four stages, not one (South Africa)

Beginners usually picture registration as a single event: fill in a form, and you are in. In practice an account releases its abilities in stages, and almost every early confusion is really the question which stage am I at. Answer that and the rest of the site becomes a lookup rather than a read.

Four gates in order. Nothing at all is needed for gate one. Gate two is registration, confirmed by a six-digit code to your email and a confirmed phone number. Gate three is verification: a government-issued photo ID and a proof of residential address, usually approved within about 24 hours. Gate four is money, in and later out. Each gate opens something specific, and standing at gate two wondering why gate four has not opened is the most common way to lose an afternoon.

What each gate releases

GateWhat it asks forWhat it opens
1 — Reading and practisingNothingEverything on this site; a demo account needs no document at all
2 — RegistrationEmail confirmed by a six-digit code, phone confirmed, a passwordA profile, the account area, and accounts created under it
3 — VerificationPhoto ID and proof of residential addressThe name on the file — and with it the way back out for money
4 — FundingA payment from a method in your own nameA live balance, and everything that can be done with one

Only gate three has a waiting period in it, which is why it is worth starting early rather than in order. What makes a document usable

Gate one costs nothing and takes longest

Everything before registration is free and unhurried, and it is where most of the useful learning happens. A demo account holds virtual money, asks for no document and produces no payment, so the whole platform can be opened, poked at and closed again with nothing at stake.

Three things are worth having straight before any money exists. Where the account's money lines are and which is which. What a CFD leaves you holding, which is a record rather than a thing. And which parts of the platform are public — a chart, identical for every viewer — and which are yours. None of the three needs a deposit, and all three are far more expensive to learn later.

Two decisions to make between gates two and four

They are easy to skip and awkward to reverse, so they belong in the gap while verification is being processed.

  1. The account currency. It is chosen on the creation screen, which lists the options for the type being opened, and it is fixed from then on. A rand payment into an account held in another currency is converted by the payment provider on the way in.

  2. Account security. Turn on two-step verification at Settings → Security settings → 2-step Verification, and note that the account area password and each trading account's platform password are two separate things.

An independent guide: it opens no gates, holds no money and reads no file. Every screen named here lives inside your Exness account area.

The order most people use, and the order that works better

Left to instinct, the sequence usually runs: register, deposit, trade, and only then discover that gate three exists at all. It is not a disaster, but it puts the one step with a waiting period in it directly in front of the one moment where waiting is unbearable — the day money is wanted back.

The version that costs nothing runs the gates in parallel instead. Register, start the document check immediately, and spend the waiting time on a practice account, which asks for nothing and holds virtual money. By the time a deposit is worth making, the file is settled, the platform is familiar and the only remaining decision is an amount.

There is no pressure in either direction. Opening an account is free, a practice account is free, and there is no inactivity fee on an account that sits unused, so a person can stop at any gate for as long as they like without the pause costing anything. What does have a clock on it is nothing here at all — no bonus, no promotion and no expiring offer exists to hurry the sequence along.

Where people stall, and which gate it usually is

A stalled beginner is almost never stuck on trading. Three stalls cover most of it, and each names its own gate.

"I cannot get my money out." Gate three. Verification is the check in front of the exit, so an unfinished file is not a fault in the withdrawal screen.

"My payment was not accepted." Gate four, usually a name question: money is expected to move between you and your own account, so a method in somebody else's name does not fit.

"The platform will not take my password." Gate two, and not really a stall — there are two passwords, and the account area one does not sign you in to a trading terminal. Six refusals and what removes each

Questions asked at the start

What can I do before registering at all?

Read, and practise. A demo account uses virtual money and asks for no document.

How long does the whole sequence take?

Registration is a few minutes; the document check is usually approved within about 24 hours. The rest is your own pace.

Should I verify before or after depositing?

Before, if you can. It is the gate money has to pass to leave, and it is far more comfortable finished in advance.

Is there an account waiting after sign-up?

Real and demo MT5 Standard accounts are created automatically, so there is usually something to open immediately.

Does opening extra accounts complicate anything?

Not the identity file — it sits with the profile. A profile can hold up to 100 MT4 and 100 MT5 accounts, 200 in total.

Is there a cost to stopping at gate one or two?

No. Opening an account is free, a demo is free, and there is no inactivity fee on an account that sits unused.

Are there bonuses for getting through the gates quickly?

Exness does not offer account-opening bonuses or promotional codes, so nothing rewards rushing.

Where do I ask if a gate will not open?

Inside the account area: live chat around the clock for short questions, email or a support ticket for verification and documents.
